Close Up
  • What I Do

I am currently a Programme Manager for the Eskom Women Advancement Programme. This means I lead a team of champions across the business to increase the number of women represented in the company because Eskom is a Energy Company which is mostly dominated by males.

  • Why Engineering?

I chose a career in STEM because I enjoyed Maths and Science at School. I also loved problem solving and have a curious mind. I love learning how things work and so Engineering was a natural fit for me.

  • School Days

I attended school at Dinwiddie Primary and Dinwiddie High School then I attended University of the Witwatersrand for my undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering as well as my Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering. I completed my MBA in Japan (at Nagoya University of Commerce and Business) on an International Scholarship.

  • My Day At Work

Meeting with young women to gather an understanding of their challenges integrating into the workplace and thereafter identifying ways to accommodate them at work. I worked as an engineer for 3 years before so I can relate to a lot of the issues they face and am best suited to help solve these problems.

  • Best Part

The past part about my work is that I find ways to ensure that other women do not need to go through what I went through working in a male dominated field.

  • Inspiration

My greatest inspiration has been my parents they parented me in the best way that has made me who I am and that has brought the best out of me. I also have a deep relationship with God thanks to my mom and I wouldn't know how to do life without the knowledge of God.

  • Want to be an Engineer?

I advise you to not listen to any voices that tell you what you can and cannot do. Have belief in yourself and your own ideals. Know your strengths and if you find that you enjoy maths and science don't be afraid to pursue a career in it.

  • Hobbies

I like to read and play chess. I love reading so have a lot of books I like but one of my favourite ones is Shoe Dog by Phil Knight, it is a memoir of him and he is the founder of Nike shoe brand.
