Hi Julia, I hope you're doing great! As a civil engineering student with a big passion for sustainability and eco-friendly practices, I'm on the lookout for an internship to dive deeper into the field. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what specific skills or experiences you think are most valuable for someone like me, who wants to make a positive impact in sustainable construction. Also, do you have any tips on how to effectively showcase these skills in my internship ...

I'm passionate about structural engineering, especially designing houses, and I want to get my PE and GC license to start my own firm. However, I'm worried about the salary since many sources say civil/structural engineers are paid less than other engineers.

Is this true? If so, what can I do to increase my earning potential in this field? Are there specific skills, certifications, or career paths that lead to higher pay?

    Thanks for your advice!

I'm a female high school student who really loves things such as cars, motorcycles and planes but I didn't grow up with an aptitude for math like most people. I would give up easily in my math classes and take shortcuts. I can understand the principles behind it and appreciate how structural math is, but I can't apply it myself. I am ...

Absolutely! I was a lot like you when I was in high school. I was never great at math. I understood the concepts but when it came to apply it, I would always get lost. Then I was then diagnosed with dyscalculia my freshman year of college. Many students ...

I'm starting to take engineering classes in college (one is specifically hands on building) and while others around me seem to understand exactly how components go together, how electrical systems work, and envision things perfectly from a basic description, I struggle to see and understand. I know engineering takes time and practice, but I'm also worried that because my mind doesn't work like others' maybe I'm not cut out to be an engineer and I'm just deluding myself into the profession ...

Don't give up! I personally struggled a lot through my degree because my brain doesn't work like others. I have ADHD and dyscalculia and it was hard watching my peers naturally "get" things that I wasn't. With that said the fact that your brain works ...

What aspect of civil engineering interests you? I went the typical route of getting a civil engineering degree and now work in construction management. However, I know quite a few people in the industry that had very different routes. If you like the ...

I have a general idea of what a civil engineer does. Before you majored in civil engineering, did you know a lot about what they do?

I had no idea what civil engineering was. I went to college as an engineer but hadn't declared which engineering major I wanted to do. I kind of just ended up falling into the major and I love it. There are SO many amazing career paths you can go down in ...
