One of our products had a defect and it was my teams job to find the source. We set up a design of experiment in order to be very specific with the parameters, with clear objectives and a hypothesis. The experiments involved several engineers and technicians, leadership, and time. We were able to isolate the root cause and remove the defect. What did I learn? As an engineer you will work in teams and on projects that are time sensitive, meaning you must work efficiently and often in a fast paced environment. Being able to apply engineering principles, models ( a lot of statistics in my case) to an actual problem was great experience for me as a new process engineer.
