Vera Added Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 8:59 AM Can you still a pursue a degree in engineering without being good with math? I used to be one of the best in my math class but then I switched schools and my average grade the last two years before graduating was a C (in exams) & D (participating in class). Since the sudden drop in grades took away my passion for mathematics, I am not interested in the subject as much as I used to as a kid. Now, I'm mostly interested in chemical / mechanical engineering. Answers 1

Michelle, Downey, CA asked Tiffany Johnston, ERM Added Friday, October 16, 2015 at 11:43 PM Did you ever struggle in math? Hello Tiffany, My name is Michelle and I am currently attending a community college. It is my third year there and I have recently changed my major to chemical engineering because I fell in love with chemistry and physics. I'd like to focus, like you, in environmental issues because it is something I am very passionate about. I am very excited to what is to come now that I decided on this major. However, there is still a doubt in the back of my mind because I know engineering has a lot of math. ... Answers 1 Tiffany Johnston, ERM Answered Friday, October 16, 2015 at 11:43 PM Hi Michelle, I actually did struggle with math quite a bit in college. Maria, Dallas Added Friday, May 16, 2014 at 12:22 PM Can I Get a B.S. in Chemical Engineering then a Graduate Degree in Biomedical Engineering? Hello, I am interested in pursuit a career in biomedical engineering, but I am not sure if I should pursue a more general engineering approach such as chemical engineering to acquire the skills employers look for (I heard that most employers prefer candidates with either a mechanical, electronic, or chemical engineering degree as opposed to a biomedical engineering degree). I am considering getting a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and then, pursuing a M.S. or Ph. D. in biomedical engineering. I ... Answers 1 Tiffany Johnston, ERM Answered Friday, May 16, 2014 at 12:22 PM Hi Maria, I would say that the industry employeers preference in undergrad engineering declines is not directly related to the career path you're considering. Chemical Engineers are often preferable to employeers because they have a broad curriculum ...

But people mostly around me are discouraging me to pursue chemical engineering. They say its a job sector that's not designed for girls & it doesn't give much opportunity to girls. Plus I have also been told that the sector doesn't pay that well either. I have done a little research and I also saw a few forums discouraging it and a lot of less women in this sector.. My question is why? why dont't women actually ... Answers 2 Tiffany Johnston, ERM Answered Friday, November 2, 2012 at 9:32 AM I agree there are plenty of great opportunities!
