Amari Epkins asked Lauren Olsen, Collins Aerospace AddedSunday, July 5, 2020 at 1:18 PM Can I be an engineer/astronaut even though I'm not good at math? Related to Aeronautical/Aerospace , Difficult Classes, Engineering Skills Reset Sort By Default Lauren Olsen , Collins Aerospace Answered Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 2:19 PM I think engineers have access to so many fancy mathematical tools to use to do their job. To that end, you don't have to be naturally good at math on order to succeed at being an engineer. You have to understand math well enough to know if your answers are in the right ballpark and often times you use tools like a computer to perform the math for you. If you can get through calculus, then you can make it as an engineer. On a daily basis I don't even really use calculus directly, but a lot of the formulas that the computer might be referencing might be doing it for you. Math is important for an engineer, but it is not the only subject to be good at and you may be stronger in another subject that can help you compliment your peers skills.
