What I Do I'm a system of systems modeling and simulation systems architect, and no I don't design buildings! I'm a BIG picture mission engineer. My job is to figure out how battles should be fought to give the blue side (USA) an advantage over the enemy. I have to understand how each platform behaves on its own and how it interacts with everything else around it during war. I then help a team of software engineers code up the behavior to create a video game like simulation of what our planes, missiles, tanks, cannons, ships and space platforms will do when faced with the enemy. It's pretty cool stuff! What I do is called MBSE.
Why Engineering? I want to make a difference in the world and I get to solve complex problems that affect big decisions.
School Days I have a BS in EE from CSULB and a MS in enterprise architecture systems engineering from UCSD. Go Tritons!
My Day At Work I get to talk to a lot of cool people! My day is spent talking to commanders, pilots, expert engineers and software engineers. I also spend a lot of time making my own SysML models which explain how things work. This modeling part is the MBSE.
Best Part I get to talk to a lot of cool people, see the BIG picture that sometimes even the military guys don't get to see and know. I also love my team.
My Family I'm a mom to a teeny tiny 3 year old girl Engineer! I also married my childhood best friend.
Hobbies I am very active with activities that promote Women in STEM. I am part of my local SWE chapter, participate in outreach volunteering, and I am the president of the women at Northrop Grumman club at work.
