Will a background in coding help me get into college?

I am a sophomore and i really enjoy coding but i am also really interested in becoming an engineer. I have had my eyes set on some good schools like MIT but another problem is that my school doesn't have many technological programs such as a robotics club. It does have computer science classes but I've been taking math classes that fill up my schedule so i can't take them. So, i was wondering if my background with coding would help me at all or some of the other things that i could do to help me achieve my goal.
