Is it too late to find out if engineering is for me?

At a young age, i always felt that i wanted to do something in technology. I have a love for math, but i never put the time and effort into my classes. There was no one to push me and never told me i could do engineering or anything. I lack guidance, but i have a love for learning and perfecting things. What can i do to find out if this is for me? I have taken personality tests and have a followup with a counselour this week. I fell in love with the idea when i first saw that you could use a programs and scripts to "Bot" on games. And ever since, i have learned to create macros that do exactly this. I am also fascinated with graphene and the promise of nanotechnology. I fix things around the house and am always looking for the highest quality product for a specific use. Pressure cooker: understand the type of metal, the durability, the safety, the size, the duration to cook. I love understanding what does what and how can i maximize efficiency. I love seeing things better. Am i a fit?

Engineering is as simple as having an interest, then following the path and making it possible. With your description here, I believe you would be a great fit. With so many online options available, you could pick a try few things.

    • Kaggle runs multiple data competitions - You study the data and solve the problem organizations around the world are seeking, or study solutions that were solved by other teams.
    • Coursera has courses to build mobile applications - See if you could take a problem and figure out an app solution.

There are several options, and I would be happy to work with you to find out where to start based on your interests.
