Answered Friday, July 26, 2019 at 5:27 PM Hi Moon, Hope you are doing well. I am very sorry for my late reply. I have been travelling out of country and didn't get a chance to get back to you. To answer your questions, Mechanical and Civil Engineering fields have few common subjects like Statics, Mechanics, Strength of Materials, FEA, etc which helped me to make the switch when I started my Career. I wanted to focus more on the design and analysis. I took several courses in the same areas during my undergraduate and graduate degrees. It helped me when I was looking for a job. If you are always willing to learn and open to new things it is not a problem at all to switch fields. After working for 13 years in structural field, now I have advantage of having knowledge and experience in both Mechanical and Civil Engineering fields. It makes you more unique and flexible when changing jobs.
