karissa AddedTuesday, June 19, 2018 at 11:35 PM Hi, I am majoring in electrical engineering and I was wondering if it's right for me. I want to work with technology and basically, try to invent new things that could be helpful in the future. I was talking to my professor and he mentioned that electrical engineering was very specific so I should look into other types of engineering, but I feel like what i want to do is best suited for ee. Am I wrong? I am only a first year so I haven't worked with circuits yet so i'm still unsure. It's a tough decision and it depends on what your specific college/University will cover on their course. It also depends what types of technology/inventing you are interested in. Perhaps try researching some jobs that would interest you and see what qualifications they need. Although electrical engineering is a bit specific it can still take you into a very wide range of jobs. There are also many careers that will benefit from any engineering background as it teaches problem solving and the ability to learn and apply technical knowledge. I studied electrical and mechanical engineering but now I work in the gas industry and don't really use any I specifically learned at university but it did prepare me generally and got me interested in the energy and utility sector. I hope that helps...
