Is it late to go for Engineering(robotics-electric) at 27?

Dear Kathy Moseler, If you let me, i would like to ask you to provide me some information about engineering. I alredy have a degree in master of MIS, but, after a year of work in Min.of Tech, i loved robotics. Would like to study electrical engineering in Germany TU9, but i am 26. Is it to old for me to start in this field? Will i be able to find a job? Some times i fill like, i am a little old for this. But please, as a professional, tell me the truth. Just yesterday i realised my grandfather was an electrical engineer in USSR. Now i do realize why all my life i loved field. Thank you for your patience and kindness.

    Saleh,

Thank you for your question. You are definitely not too old to study Electrical Engineering or Robotics! This is a growing field and there is huge demand for women engineers, especially in the USA. I cannot speak for Germany as it could be different there, but in the USA, colleges and universities are doing everything they can to attract women to the field.

I met several people in my classes who were much older than typical and for sure one of them became an engineer. I believe he was 38 years old when he graduated and he had no trouble finding a job. He was a top student - I am sure that was part of it. He had no career before going to school, he and his wife made and sold pottery. Your background is at least technical so you are in a better position already.

The other person was a woman, a mom who went back to school after raising children. I do not know if she obtained her degree because I did not stay in touch with her, but I believe she was in her 40's.

So yes, don't let anything hold you back from pursuing your dream. Just remember to study hard and get good grades because you will have more opportunities if you are a top student vs. someone who is just average. I am sure you will do well because your passion will motivate you to study.

    Warm regards,

    Kathy
