What do you wear to work?

I work in the Denver Technology Center (south of Downtown) and my office is "business causal" and the president of the company wears blue jeans almost every day. If I worked downtown Denver, the standard engineering dress is more formal. The east coast of the US typically dress nicer than the West. When I was working in Bellingham Washington, my standard office dress was about the same as in Denver.

Today I have on black pants and a patterned UnderArmour shirt. Last week I wore a casual dress, 3 days of jeans and 1 day with dress pants. A T-shirt is not quite nice enough, but almost anything else works. Most guys wear any shirt with a collar, with short sleeved or Polos being the norm. The men are typically 50% in jeans.

On a slightly different note, I color my hair with fun colors and I currently have both blue and purple streaks in my naturally brown hair. As long as it is not too distracting, any hair style is permitted.

When we go to the field, we wear "FR" or Flame Resistant Clothing to act as a last line of defense if something goes wrong on-site. As we work in the Oil and Gas industry, there are many classified areas where hydrocarbon vapors may be present and so FR clothing is required. Also standard for work on-site are steel toed boots, hard hat and safety glasses/goggles, occasionally hearing protection. The FR clothing may be jump suits, but as managers, we are allowed to wear FR Jeans and FR long shirts which are a lot more comfortable than the coveralls.
