Well, first of all - PASSION! If you have passion and will to become an Engineer, then go for it. What's important is to show what you are capable of. I remember, when my high school years was about to end. I was also uncertain of what to take. I did research and since I like Math and Physics, somewhere online said that I am suited in "Engineering" field. However, which field of Engineering? Again, I did some research and it lead me to Electronics and Communication Engineering course. I took that and it was useful in my first job few years ago. But when I moved to Collins Aerospace as my new company, I became a Manufacturing Engineer then today I am a Materials Engineering supervisor which is somewhat not relevant to my educational background. To tell you, as long as you have the strong foundations, know the basics or fundamentals and continue learning the things you like, you'll succeed.
