Sian Ormiston asked Tiera Fletcher (Guinn), Boeing AddedTuesday, September 4, 2018 at 7:25 AM I would like to know how you got to where you are now? Hi Tiera, It's Sian again, I know I already asked you a question but I was wondering more! I would like to know how you got into the interest of engineering and how did you get into Boeing. Also I was wondering on an average work day what would you normally wear? I'm happy to answer any questions you have, so this great. Ask away! At a young age, my parents sparked my interest for math and by the time I was 11, I learned about engineering, particularly aerospace engineering, when Lockheed Martin brought a program to my elementary school to teach a group of students the fundamentals of aerospace engineering. I've been in love with it ever since! I spoke with Boeing representatives at my college's career fair in fall of 2014, learned more about the company's values, and got selected for an interview. The rest is truly history. I started interning with Boeing the summer of 2015 (summer following my sophomore year) and I haven't stopped since then. On an average work day doing structural design and analysis engineering, I would normally wear business casual attire, which for me would include a dress top, blazer, jeans and heels/flats. However, many others would wear jeans, tennis shoes and a t-shirt. On an average work day doing task leading and manufacturing engineering on the manufacturing floor, I'm required to wear safety shoes and safety glasses. So, I would wear bell bottom jeans and a comfortable t-shirt. So it all depends on your tasks and your environment.
