Hello! I am a Junior in Highschool and have been considering Architecture for a fairly long time only to find it is very often very hard to find good jobs. Would Civil Engineering be a better option?

I have done a lot of research and it seems like I could do a fairly similar job (only it seems like with much less designing :( ) with more job security. I was wondering how true this is and if it is possible to have flexible hours as a Civil Engineer. Thankyou so much!!!

    Hi Morgan!
I am not sure what the job industry for architects is currently. But this is the best way I can explain the difference between civil engineers and architects. Civil engineers are the ones who design everything around the building and architects design the building and everything inside of it. We work in close coordination with architects on most projects.

Job hours are fairly flexible. We do work a 40hr work week and we have set hours that our office is open. but if you have an appointment or things like that then things can be flexible. We sometimes have to work over time. If we have a project deadline that has to be reached. I believe this would be the same for both civil and architectural jobs.

I hope this helps you decide which path is right for you.
Let me know if I can be of more assistance.
    Christina
