Do you think there's a chance for me in the engineering workforce?
Hi :)) I'm graduated from faculty of engineering, department Construction and engineering management... But I spent 2 years not working in this field and now I wanna try it, but I almost forgot most of what I've learned. Do you think there's a chance for me out there? And what would you advise me? Thank you 😊

My sincerest apologies for being so late in responding to your question. This past year has been a bit challenging for me as I have had some personal family health issues and am entering the next phase of my own career as I will be stepping down as President and CEO of my company to make way for the next generation. While I will remain Chair of our Company’s Board of Directors, I will be embarking on a new venture into my public board service and serving as an arbitrator. As I look back over my career, I often remind myself of what my mother told me when I was hesitant about becoming an engineer in a man’s world. She said, “If you really want to do something and put your mind to it, you can do anything. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you cannot do something.” If you are passionate about construction and engineering management, as I am, don’t hesitate to go back, especially being a woman as we need more women engineers in construction management. You will be amazed at how much will come back to you. Plus, being an educator, I am sure you appreciate how much continuing education means and life long learning -- something I have always felt great satisfaction in and continue to do still today. Consider taking some refresher courses or get certified as a Project Management Professional by PMI or other certifications to get you “back in the seat” while credentialing yourself at the same time. I am sure you will do quite well if this is what you want to do and I would encourage you to follow your dream as dreams do come true!
