Is it very important to go into an accredited program?

Hi, I am going to be a senior this fall and I want to go into environmental engineering. Is it very important to go into an accredited program? There are some colleges in my area that offer a major in Environmental Engineering but some are not accredited. Will it greatly affect my job prospects after graduation? Thanks ! Nicole

    Dear Nicole,

It is recommended that you enroll yourself in an accredited environmental engineering program. Accreditation is basically an indicator that a certain degree program is up to educational standards and it’s trustworthy. It gives one plus points in finding good jobs.
Through personal experience I can say, the better your engineering degree (i.e. from an accredited and decently ranked university), the better you do in the job market. But of course, in the end, it all comes down to your personal skills and motivation.
