I am looking into scholarships to pay for school and I'm looking for any tips on that, as well as guidance on what extra courses may make me a more competitive in the field. Was thinking about possibly minoring in mathematics or maybe Mandarin (I spent some time in China)? I work a lot to pay for school so I haven't been able to network much so really anything helps me lot! Just found this site and so far loving it. Thank you! Answers 1 Stacey DelVecchio, Caterpillar Inc Answered Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 5:10 PM Great questions Berta. Regarding the scholarship, I think the best thing you can do is focus on results. If you'd had internships, talk about the results and/or impact of the work, not just the name of the company or division. If you were measuring parts ...

Dennis, Borger asked Stacey DelVecchio, Caterpillar Inc Added Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 7:14 PM I'm afraid I may not do well Hello my name is Dennis, I am very happy I stumbled upon one of the answers you had previously answered because it's very similar to what I had wondered. I was very interested in becoming a Bio-medical engineer but the university I'm planning on going to does not offer that as a major so now I'm leaning towards becoming a chemical engineer but although I do enjoy math it is not my strongest subject, and I'm afraid I will not do well which is very discouraging to me. Was this an issue for you? ... Answers 1 Stacey DelVecchio, Caterpillar Inc Answered Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 7:14 PM Thanks for reaching out to me. First, math was probably my favorite, so I'm probably not a good one to ask. I did enjoy the math classes. But after the first 1.5 years, I don't think you get into the math as much. I have to say that I hear this a ...
Jonathan, Jemison, Alabama Added Monday, August 31, 2015 at 1:39 PM why did you choose chemical engineer? Of all the other engineering fields, why did you choose chemical engineering? Answers 1 Stacey DelVecchio, Caterpillar Inc Answered Monday, August 31, 2015 at 1:39 PM Good question Jonathan but I don't have an exciting answer. Temi asked Stacey DelVecchio, Caterpillar Inc Added Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 7:16 PM Choosing between chemistry and chemical engineering I'm having a really hard time picking between chemistry and chemical engineering. Initially I thought I would study chemical engineering but then I went on a course for chemical engineering and I realized it had very little chemistry in it and chemistry just happens to be my favorite subject. Writing it like that makes it seem like a no brainier but chemical engineering has a lot more career opportunities and math than a chemistry degree so I'm just really confused right now. I just want to ask ... Answers 1 Stacey DelVecchio, Caterpillar Inc Answered Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 7:16 PM This is such a great question Temi and I can understand your concern. You ask how I chose chemical engineering and it's not the best reason, but basically...I really really liked math but didn't want to be a teacher. I thought engineering might be a ...
