What I Do I am currently working in a Livestock and Environmental Research Lab in the department of Biological Systems Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I am an undergraduate laboratory assistant, and I am working on a greenhouse gas emissions study of dairy farm cattle and swine farms. I'm currently looking at methane emissions in relation to temperature and air flow in a cattle feedlot.
Why Engineering? I like solving problems. I also wanted to challenge myself to learn how to fail gracefully and break-out of my "perfectionism" tendencies.
School Days I am a senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I will be graduating in May 2020. My degree is in Biological Systems Engineering with an emphasis Environment and Water Resources. My minor is in German.
Challenges Learning how to fail has been a challenge for me. I truly measure success based on how well I'm performing in my classes, so I really had to accept that I would struggle in engineering.
My Family I have a younger brother who is one of my best friends, and I love my parents. We have a tight-knit family, and I'm fortunate to have such great relationships with them.
Dreams and Goals Short term goal: get into graduate school in a German speaking country. Long term goal: work for Patagonia as an Engineer.
Want to be an Engineer? Do it. Give it a whirl and see how you feel. It is so empowering and satisfying when your hard work pays off.
Hobbies I love fashion. I love thrift shopping and sewing and collecting clothing pieces. I'm also really into music and going to shows.
