Career shift into sofware engineering
Hi Amy, Thanks for offering to help confused women like me! I'm currently an Accounting Manager. I graduated about 9 years ago with my BS in Accounting. I have struggled to be satisfied with my career the entire time. The largest items that bother dissatisfy me are - the lack of mental challenges in the workplace, emotional drama by staff, bosses that feel threatened (and vengeful) if you challenge their ideas, and the only ways to be promoted is if someone leaves (and you move up) or you out perform someone and the company puts you in their place. I'm considering going back to school for my BS in Software Engineering and a career shift is scary. The unknowns of whether I'd like the work or if I'd be good at it. My husband is a Software Engineer and based on discussion with him, I feel it could be a good fit. Based on my dissatisfaction above, what would your experience say? Thnk you so much for your help, Sonya
