It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to do. My parents were not in the construction or engineering fields, and instead worked fairly mundane office jobs. As a kid through high school, I was good at math and science, but didn't really know how to apply it. I was (semi) forced to go to college and eventually found engineering. After 5 years, I found structural engineering and was hooked. In 2010, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Sacramento State in CA. In 2011, I graduated from Stanford University with a Master's of Science degree, specializing in structural engineering. Since then I have worked at Buehler and Buehler Structural Engineers. My main task is project engineer for building design (from concept to construction). I also complete seismic evaluation of structures and lead non-structural special seismic certification for equipment. I've worked on many types of buildings including multi-story residential, medical clinics, performance arts theatres, prisons, schools, and hospitals brought California. I obtained my Professional Engineers license in 2013, and plan on taking the Structural Engineer's exam in October 2017. As a female in the industry, especially construction industry, I have experienced many difficulties, frustration and negativity. I have also had amazing successes, found a fellowship and discovered great strength.
