  • Describe what you do in your current work situation.
    I'm a web developer in the Sharjah Teaching Hospital in University of Sharjah, working in the Operations department.
  • Why did you choose engineering?
    I like computers and everything related to computers, so when I graduated from high school, I chose Computer Engineering to answer my questions about computers and how they work.
  • Where did you go to school and what degree(s) do you have?
    I got my bachelors degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Sharjah in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
  • What kinds of activities have typically been part of your work?
    I spend my day designing and developing websites and web services.
  • What do you like best about being an engineer?
    What I like best about being a web engineer is the variety to do, from thinking about the idea, designing it, developing it, and launching the website.
  • Which of your career accomplishments are you proudest of?
    I'm so proud of being one of the founders of the Hospital I’m working in, and being part of big engineering institutions like IEEE and WIE and having volunteering roles in them.
  • Please tell us a little about your family.
    I live in a big family; I have 5 brothers and 2 sisters. I like being part of this family because we do care a lot and support each other.
  • What advice would you give to a young woman considering a career in engineering?
    I like to advise young women to study well and to do their best in studying any fields of engineering, and be sure they will get the best jobs ever.
  • Any other stories or comments you would like to share with EngineerGirl visitors?
    I like to advise young women to study well and to do their best in studying any fields of engineering, and be sure they will get the best jobs ever.
  • Describe something about your life outside of work: your hobbies, or perhaps a favorite book.
    I do a lot of activities outside my work life.  I like sports like swimming, aerobics, and yoga.  I also like reading, cooking, and doing hand crafts.
Biography
I was graduated from the Engineering faculty in 2005, since then, I worked first as Database Administrator, then I moved to another job as a Web Engineer and then as an Executive Assistant Hospital Engineer in a hospital. I was graduated from my MSc program in Project Management just 1 day before my delivery of my second baby :). I am so proud of myself being a mom for two wonderful girls and working as an Engineer ... believe me you can do it girls :)

    No course needs to be taken before starting your studying, although if you get the chance to enroll in this course it would be useful since you will be training on these software later. Good Luck :)

    No need to live in a big city to be an engineer, because all places either big or small cities need to have engineers, and we as women can work in all engineering fields. Good luck :)
