Self Doubt in Computer Engineering
Hello, My name is Melissa and I am a 2nd year student at El Camino College and also my major is Computer Engineering. I sometimes get really discouraged when most people are progressing along in their majors faster then I am. I mainly think I should just change my major and finish fast. Have you ever had these thoughts and if so how did you solve the problem?

Hello Melissa, Congratulations on reaching your second year in Computer Engineering! Although it is a tough, time-consuming major, when you're done, you'll have a wonderful sense of accomplishment. You will also have a marketable skill that can be applied to many real-world problems, and many companies will be interested in hiring you. Whenever I felt discouraged, I just remembered my goal. My future goal allowed me to feel good in the present about all the hard work I was putting into my major. I want to share this quote with you: If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing well. If it is worth having, it is worth waiting for. If it is worth attaining, it is worth fighting for. If it is worth experiencing, it is worth putting aside time for. Also, remember to learn the basics before proceeding to more advanced topics, and you will be greatly rewarded. I wish you all the best in your studies! Warm regards, Jananda
