Biography
Desi received the B.Eng. degree in Information Technology from the Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences (Finland) in 2012, in a double degree scheme in conjunction with the University of Malaga (Spain) where she received the B.Eng and M.Eng in Telecommunications Engineering. In May 2012 she joined Pilot Photonics Ltd. where she has been working as a Senior Research Optical Engineer in the research and development of unique optical transmitters for high performance optical networks. Since March 2013 she has also been working towards her employment based Ph.D. entitled ‘Optical comb sources, their demultiplexing, and use in high spectral efficiency next-generation optical transport networks’, funded by the Irish Research Council, with Pilot Photonics and the Radio and Optical Communications Laboratory in the Research Institute for Networks and Communications Engineering (RINCE) in Dublin. She is also an active member of IEEE Women in Engineering.
