About software and computer engineering
Hi :) I'm currently living in Perth and I'm now in year 10. I'm interested in being a software or computer engineer. I'm wondering if I really need to do physics in high school, since I dislike science. And can you also recommend other subjects to do? And just one more question, do software computer engineers design apps? I mean as in apps like we have now on our phones. Thats all cheers :)

    Dear Amy,

Being a software engineer is a great choice. I believe Physics would be required as it gives good background on how computers work (among other things), but it is best to ask your school counselor for that information. Other good courses to take would be Math (Calculus), Logic, and any programming courses you can find.

More importantly, YES! Software engineers are the ones who get to design and write apps. Some apps run on your phone, some apps are internet apps and run in Chrome or Firefox and some apps run on your PC. Some apps run on PlayStation or Wii. Some apps run on the cash register at the store. Some apps run on washing machines or cars. Software is running the world these days, and so software engineers are very much in demand and have A LOT of work to do.

Hope this helps. Write to me anytime if you have more questions!
