If you are planning a school event, interview, design project, or other event to share your love of engineering with students, consider reviewing the modules in the Techbridge Role Models Matter Online Training Toolkit. It is specifically designed to help you develop skills to engage girls and underrepresented youth in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) through readings, videos, questions, and more. Role models play a vital role in getting youth excited about careers in STEM. Get prepared today!

Organizations

Your organization can help students – especially girls – explore engineering.

Here are some ways to get involved:

  • Help sponsor or coach an engineering club or competitive team.
Many schools don’t have the expertise or resources to support after-school engineering programs, even when there are students willing to participate. Your organization can fill the gap. You can find links to different kinds of activities in our section on Clubs and Programs.
  • Host an Engineer Day at your workplace or campus.
Many students do not know any engineers – nor have they seen engineers at work. You can change that. Increase impact by linking your activity National Engineers Week, held in February each year. You can find some excellent resources to get started on the DiscoverE website.
  • Gather Employees to share stories, serve as role models, or help score essays for EngineerGirl.
Consider sharing stories with us about exciting things your engineers are working on.  We love to share news of interesting engineering projects and teams with our readers.  You might also gather women engineers from your organization to sign up as role models in the Gallery of Women Engineers or help to score essays each spring for our annual competition.  Thousands of young women receive inspiration from the stories of Engineers on our pages everyday, and students around the world enjoy competing in the essay competition.  Email us at EngineerGirl@nae.edu  to learn more about how you can help.
  • Become an EngineerGirl Sponsor.
Boasting over 55,000 unique visits per month, EngineerGirl provides students – in upper elementary school through university undergraduate programs – with a comprehensive resource for understanding engineering careers and the opportunities they provide. An investment in EngineerGirl is an investment in the engineering workforce of the future.
