What I Do I design power distribution systems for large science & technology buildings, University campuses and healthcare facilities.
Why Engineering? I was looking for the right combination of "left brain" and "right brain" technical and artistic opportunity.
My Day At Work Design charrettes with architects, client meetings, job site walks, team coordination meetings and time at my desk to perform calculations, write reports and review drawings.
Best Part No two days are ever the same. No two projects are ever the same. No two clients or coworkers are ever the same. There is always a challenge around the corner.
Proud Moments Passing my professional engineering (P.E.) exam and deciding to shift my career to focus solely on building projects that support research and education that ultimately improves people's lives.
Challenges I have learned that being the only woman in a meeting simply does not matter at all. My voice matters just as much as anyone else's.
My Family My husband, two daughters and our yellow lab love to spend time outdoors camping, snowboarding and playing soccer.
Dreams and Goals Short term: Hire more awesome engineers. Long term: Find smart clients who want to collaborate on solutions.
Want to be an Engineer? Know your strengths and do not try to do anything someone else's way. Stay persistent, true to yourself and open minded.
Additional Thoughts I have learned that being the only woman in a meeting simply does not matter at all. My voice matters just as much as anyone else's.
Hobbies I love to dance and have a long background of ballet, hip hop and tap experiences. I have transitioned to yoga and pilates these days.
