Why Engineering? I chose engineering because I loved math and science and loved solving problems and being able to be a little creative.
School Days I graduated from the University of Washington with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering. I was in the Husky Marching Band during all 4 years.
Best Part Due to the positions and companies I have worked for, I have enjoyed the diversity of my day-to-day work and the people I work with. I have loved helping to solve problems that are simple to very complex. I have enjoyed helping my teams get better.
Challenges My only consistent challenge through my career is being a female in a very male-dominated world. I was 1 of 3 females that graduated from my department in college (the other 30+ were male). I have been the only female engineer in my different departments and was the first female engineering director at one of my first companies. I have learned how to work in a male-dominated arena while not losing what makes me unique.
My Family I am married and have 2 children. Our daughter is in college and studying to be a teacher. Our son is in high school. Both of our children are involved in volleyball (daughter coaches and son plays).
Hobbies As a family we love travelling, anything Disney, hiking, and volleyball. I love reading murder mysteries in my spare time and enjoy good mystery/investigative tv shows.
