Women Inventors: Improving Our World

Website entries featured women inventors and their invention and stressed how innovations by women have made our lives better, safer, or more convenient. Congratulations to our contest winners:

In Grades 9-12:
Winner Anya Savikhin, a senior at Ames High School in Iowa, created a site recognizing the achievements of Katharine Blodgett. She receives $250, and has her site posted on the EngineerGirl website

First Runner-Up, winning $150
Jennifer Gee from Frederick High School in Maryland

Second Runner-up, winning $100
Ashley Grigsby, Eric Garcia, Olivia Huff, Nathan Hillger, and Jose Cardenas form Judson High School in Texas.

In Grades 4-8:
The girls of Girl Scout Troop 2409 in New York created a site recognizing the achievements of Margaret Knight. These winners will share the $250 prize and have their site posted on the Engineer Girl website.

First Runners-Up, winning $150
Jazmin Colorado, Samantha Jo Gutierrez, Krystal Healy, Bruce House, and Megan Wilbur from Miller's Point Elementary in Texas.

Second Runner Up, winning $100
Destiny Alonzo, Ashley Nicole Childs, Sheridan Ellen England, Halie Ricketts, and Mike Shortes also from Miller's Point Elementary in Texas.

The contest was open to girls, boys, or teams of up to 6 students. Winners were chosen in two age categories: grades 4-8 and grades 9-12.
