Did you have any obstacles in your career? Did any of these obstacles have to do with being female?

As I am still early in my career, I have not faced many obstacles. Of course, in many circumstances where you are considered to be a minority, you find yourself disproving the assumptions of others. There were many times where my abilities were doubted from first look because I am a young, African-American female. However, I find it most pertinent to understand your subject matter and not depend on the validation of others. I believe that those two points are vital for the process of growth and development and then ultimately success.
