Engineers!
Charlene was born and raised in the small island of Puerto Rico. The summer before starting her junior year in high school she was chosen to attend a 2 week engineering workshop. That experience and the fact that the engineering field lacks women representation sparked her interest to pursue this career. When she entered the University of Puerto Rico in Mayaguez she started pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering but as she took more statistics and accounting classes she found that her true passion was Industrial Engineering. When she moved to the United States she transferred to Southern Polytechnic State University and took the opportunity to change her major to Industrial Engineering were she graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree, a minor in Business Administration, a concentration on Quality and her Six Sigma Green belt certification. She currently works for Kraft Foods Maxwell House Coffee plant in Jacksonville, FL.
