Biography

Stephanie Zeiger is an engineer, scientist, and educator currently serving as a STEM Education Consultant for the Tennessee STEM Innovation Network, managed by Battelle Education. With over 15 years of experience in K-12 education and 10 years as a scientist and engineer, she has held various roles as a teacher, curriculum developer, researcher, and professional learning leader spanning across classroom instruction, scientific research, and engineering projects. Stephanie’s background uniquely positions her to cultivate partnerships between K-12 schools, industry, and higher education to advance STEM education for all students. Her most recent work in designing and implementing a statewide K-12 computer science teacher professional development program has impacted over 1500 public school educators and included best practices for supporting students from diverse backgrounds. In addition to her professional learning initiatives, she is actively engaged in research at Vanderbilt University on advancing middle school computer science education to enhance participation among underrepresented groups in robotics and cybersecurity, serves on the TN Girls Collaborative leadership team, and is the Middle TN Regional Director for the TN Computer Science Teachers Association. Stephanie received her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005 and her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nuclear Engineering from North Carolina State University in 1999 and 1997.
