Why Engineering? I started with a Bachelor of Architecture, but learned very early in my career that I loved designing and building networks.
School Days Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University (Virginia Tech) Bachelor of Architecture (a 5-year professional degree) University of Richmond Master of Humanities
My Family I am from an engineering family. I am married with two grown daughters. One daughter is a mechanical engineer (Virginia Tech) with an MBA (NC State), and the other has a liberal arts degree from University of Virginia, and is just about finished with an MBA from Georgetown.
Dreams and Goals I retired (quite early...) from management at Verizon landline, but discovered it was time for a CHANGE, not retirement. I had several job offers, and took the "fun" job as a consultant for Verizon Wireless, where I managed building construction. That eventually morphed into a job offer at Verizon Wireless, where I remain. My goal was to stay in engineering, not move into management again, specifically as a Principal Engineer. That is what I am now, so I suppose you could say I reached my current goal.
Hobbies I have - and continue to - traveled all over the world. The only continent I have skipped is Antarctica. I started traveling as a teenager, and never stopped.
