What I Do My current role as Director of Network System Performance is my favorite yet. I lead a team of Senior Managers and front-line engineers focused on our wireless network design and performance. We get to work on new technology integration, 5G deployments, disaster responses and event preparation, capacity planning, etc specific to the Southern California market. We find ways to make our "Best Network" even better. My typical day is anything but typical, prior to COVID you may find me in my office one day and the next: touring a new event venue, preparing for a 5G launch, walk-testing at Coachella/Disney/Santa Monica Pier/you-name-it, or meeting with city Mayors and major technology partners to explain our local network strategy.
Why Engineering? I have always loved solving problems! I initially went to college to study life sciences, biology, etc. When I first starting taking engineering classes in college, it just clicked.
My Day At Work Collaborating with other engineers to brainstorm how to overcome obstacle Long term planning for future technology Solving/troubleshooting major customer escalations
Best Part Getting my engineering degree taught me how to think. While most of my experience has been in Wireless at Verizon, my degree is applicable to a wide variety of fields and industries.
Want to be an Engineer? Be curious! The opportunities are endless. Explore what you don't know and find out if it's the right fit for you. When you enter the industry, you're not expected to know everything. Use that time to ask all the questions you can think of.
